Optimal Screen Brightness Settings for Reduced Eye Fatigue

Your screen brightness should match your room's ambient lighting. Here's the exact way to set it.

The most common cause of digital eye strain is mismatched brightness. In a dark room, a max-brightness screen forces your pupils to constrict and your ciliary muscles to work harder. The rule: your screen should be roughly as bright as the area behind it. Quick test — open a white webpage. If it looks like a glowing light source, turn brightness down. If it looks grey, turn it up. Enable auto-brightness if your device supports it.
