Forward Head Posture: Self-Assessment and Correction

Forward head posture is the most common postural issue in desk workers. Learn how to assess your own posture and correct it.

Forward head posture happens when your ears sit ahead of your shoulders instead of aligned vertically. This forces your neck extensors to work overtime, leading to pain and fatigue. Self-assessment: stand against a wall — if the back of your head touches but your chin lifts, you have forward head posture. Correction includes chin tucks, doorway pectoral stretches, and adjusting your monitor to eye level so you stop craning forward.
